Battle, East Sussex.

I wonder how long it took them to work out the name for this pub?

Battle, East Sussex.

Battle Abbey also known as St Martins was built after the Pope demanded penance for the many Normans who were killed during the conquest of England by William. The high altar of the church is located on the place where Harold fell during the Battle.

The Abbey at Battle. Built by William in celebration of his victory over Harold.

The town of Battle so named because this was the location where William the Conqueror (also known as William the Bastard due to his illegitimate birth) defeated Harold to gain the throne of England.

Racton Folly

In its original condition the stonework would of been covered, personally I think it looks better in its present state.

The 80 foot tower would of in its day allowed for a fantastic view over the harbour at Chichester.

Racton Folly

Racton Folly, West Sussex. A strange building indeed. With fence and padlock it looks a daunting place, luckily one of the the fence panels had been removed otherwise we would have never got in!

If you would like to find out more about this fascinating building why not check out the video!
